It took nearly two hours, but it was worth it for the UW-Parkside volleyball team. The Rangers cast off the Bellarmine Knights in a thrilling 25-27, 25-15, 25-23, 16-25, 15-12 victory in front of a spirited gathering in the DeSimone Gymnasium Friday night.

In the fifth and deciding set, the Rangers vaulted to a fast 5-0 advantage, only to see Bellarmine climb back in and deadlock the rubber set at 12-12. The Rangers tallied the next three points, capped by a slam-down score by Rachel Burmester, sealing the deal.

The win lofts the Ranger overall record to 12-5. The team is 5-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Bellarmine left Somers with an 8-7 overall mark and an even 3-3 record in league play.

Caroline Langer and Addie Kramer each had 11 kills in the match for the Rangers. Cassie Wilkens chipped in 10 kills.

The Rangers hit for a .192 percentage, highlighed by a .286 mark in the third set. Bellarmine hit for a .150 match percentage and was limited to an .077 mark in the fifth and deciding set.

Stacie Bower dug up 28 balls for the Rangers.

Next up for the Rangers is a 2:00 p.m. (note the special start time) match with Northern Kentucky Saturday, Oct. 9 in the DeSimone Gymnasium.
