Rangers drop season finale 2-1

The Men's Soccer team concluded their season on Sunday with a 2-1 loss to Rockhurst in Kansas City, Missouri.  The win improved Rockhurst's record to 9-4-2 overall and 8-4-2 in the GLVC.  The loss finishes the Rangers 2010 campaign at 7-8-2 overall and 4-8-2 in the GLVC.

The Rangers came out strong in the first half wasting little time to score.  Niklas Boedts was able to beat Rockhurst goalkeeper Kyle Clawson at 9:09.  Kinkade Lo was credited with the assist.  The Rangers continued to enjoy their lead until Rockhurst's Mark Magee scored just inside the right post at 17:40 to tie the game.

The game remained tied 1-1 at halftime.

Rockhurst was able to continue that momentum into the second half as Patrick White scored at 49:31 to a 2-1 lead.  The Rangers had a few scoring opportunities late in the game, but were unable to capitalize as Rockhurst held on for a 2-1 win.

Rockhurst finished the game with 11 shots on goal.  The Rangers finished with 3 shots on goal.  Rockhurst finished with a slight advantage in corner kicks 8-6.

The game was the last for seniors Matt Gloshen, Jose Alfaro, Jason Moxley, Ben Kreple, Jon Bebeau, Cyril Simmons, and Dave Mercer.
