Spikers start trip with win at Quincy

The alarm rang loud after Quincy scored a 25-23 win over the Rangers in the first set of a Great Lakes Valley Conference women's volleyball match at Quincy's Pepsi Arena. From that point forward, the Rangers dominated with a convincing 25-13 victory, then a tight 25-23 verdict, followed by a match-terminating 25-11 conquest.

The end result left each team with a 1-2 record in the GLVC.

Tami Gleason and Jen Johnson were credited with 11 kills each. Gleason also had four of the Rangers' eight serving aces.

Parkside was strong at the net with 13 total team blocks. The Hawks had only two.

Andrea Gust dished out 20 assists for the winners.

The Rangers hit for a .220 percentage while the Hawks put up an .041.

The team now backtracks to Illinois-Springfield on their weekend road trip, The bout with the Prairie Stars, a GLVC newcomer, takes place Saturday afternoon.
