After winning at Quincy less than 24 hours before, the UW-Parkside women's volleyball team scored another decisive win on the road. The team won in consecutive sets at Illinois-Springfield Saturday afternoon, 25-18, 25-19, 25-21.
The Prairie Stars were denied their first ever win in the Great Lakes Valley Conference for a fourth time and are now 6-10 overall. The Rangers evened their GLVC mark at 2-2 and boast an impressive 13-5 overall mark.
The Rangers overcame Prairie Star leads in both the first and third set. UWP overcame an 8-point deficit at one point.
Jen Johnson led the Rangers in kills with seven. A balanced attack saw Tami Gleason, Cassy Marx, Cassie Wilkens and Addie Kramer each put down five kills.
The visitors set the tone for the match with a .409 hitting percentage in the first set. They hit an even .200 for the match, while the Prairie Stars were similar with a .208 percentage.
After its first four GLVC contests on the road, the Rangers will finally have a league home match on Friday, Oct. 2, versus Missouri S&T at 7 p.m. The back end of the home set will feature Missouri-St. Louis Saturday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m.
