Flyers top Rangers in four

It was the third match of five consecutive matches on the road for the UW-Parkside women's volleyball team. The squad competed in Romeoville, Illinois, Tuesday night, and saw homestanding Lewis fly away with a 23-25, 32-30, 25-9, 25-22 victory.

Despite the fact Lewis is a fellow Great Lakes Valley Confernece member, this was a non-conference bout. The league match between the two schools will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m., at the DeSimone Gymnasium.

The Flyers hit for a .227 percentage in the match. The Rangers were at .139 in the Neal Carey Arena.

The teams exchanged a pair of two-point sets to start the match. Set Two was extended to 32-30 with the Flyers winning. After a decisive win by Lewis in the fourth set, the Flyers nipped the Rangers 25-22 to terminate the match.

An always formidable Lewis squad, fresh off a 31-8 record and an NCAA tournament bid last season, moves to 12-3 so far this year. The Rangers are now 12-5.

Courtney Stack had 18 assists for the Rangers. Teammate Cassie Wilkens dug up 19.

The Rangers look for their initial conference win this weekend. The team will travel to Quincy for a match with the Hawks Friday night, before stopping at GLVC newcomer Illinois-Springfield Saturday afternoon. Quincy is 1-1 in league play and 2-11 overall and UIS 0-2 in the league and 6-8 overall.
