The UW-Parkside women's volleyball team gave the home fans a thrilling way to open the season in the DeSimone Gymnasium. After their first eight matches away from home, the Rangers returned to open the home portion of the season with visiting Winona State.
It took five games, even beyond Game Five's 15th point. In the end, the Rangers captured a 25-22, 27-29, 25-23, 22-25, 19-17 triumph.
The Rangers moved to 8-1 overall, while the Warriors slipped to 2-7.
Winona State was on match point once in the fifth set. The Rangers terminated the contest on their third attempt at match point.
The hitting percentages were as tight as the score, which saw neither team ahead by more than five points at any time. UW-Parkside hit at a .183 clip compared to .176 for the Warriors.
Cassie Wilkens led a trio of Rangers in double digit kills with 11.
Cassy Marx and
Caroline Langer had 10 each.
Andrea Gust was credited with 22 assists and
Courtney Stack, 20.
