N. Michigan Michigan Tech Lake Superior State St. Cloud State
It may only be the first weekend of the season, but the UW-Parkside women's volleyball team has already raised some eyebrows. The squad took three of four matches against teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) at Northern Michigan University.
The Rangers lone loss was to their hosts, Northern Michigan, 22-25, 25-14, 26-24, 25-23. Tamie Gleason paced UWP in kills with a dozen. Courtney Stack was credited with 28 assists.
UW-Parkside's three wins included a 23-25, 18-25, 25-18, 18-16 win over Michigan Tech; a 25-14, 25-16, 25-27, 14-25, 15-10 triumph over St. Cloud State; and a 25-19, 25-21, 25-18, sweep of Lake Superior State.
The Rangers had four players with double digit kills against Michigan Tech. They included Caroline Langer (14), Gleason (13), Addie Kramer (12) and Cassie Wilkens (12). The same was true against St. Cloud State. Gleason and Langer had 13 kills apiece while Jen Johnson and Kramer put down 11 each.
Box scores from each match are above.
The team will take to the road again this weekend, this time heading to Gannon for four matches.
