Jessica Monson completed her GLVC track career by adding her 9th individual track title when she won the Great Lakes Valley Conference 1500m Run on Saturday. Her time of 4:27.98 was less than one second off of the GLVC meet of 4:27.14. Monson totaled 12 GLVC titles with her relay title from this year's indoor meet and her two cross country championships over the past 4 years.
There were several other outstanding performances turned in by the UWP women beyond Monson's title:
* Hope Christie placed 3rd in that 1500m with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark of 4:37.52. Her time is the 4th fastest ever UWP Freshman mark in school history, behind only Monson's 4:36, Michelle Marter's 4:36 and Sarah Hiett's 4:36.
* Whitney Olson finished 3rd in the 800m Run matching her career best exactly at 2:20.44 that she set at Bucknell in mid-April.
* Heidi Ertl placed 5th in the 5000m Run with a time of 18:30.07, her second fastest time ever.
* Career Best performances were also turned in by Angie Adams in the 10000m Run where she placed 6th with a time of 41:47.90. Jennie Kindt placed 10th overall in the 1500m, but was the winner of the first section of the event and her 5:04.54 was a career best by nearly 5 seconds. Jessica Enderby ran a 5:09.54 to finish 11th overall and 2nd in the first section.
* The 4x400m Relay team of Olson, Enderby, Kindt, and Christie ran a year's best time of 4:15.02 that was good for a 5th place finish. In that relay, Kindt and Christie ran career best splits by over 2 seconds (63.8 and 62.4).
* The UWP Women Race Walkers helped out by filling out the 4x100m Relay which finished 7th. The relay team consisted of Miranda Melville, Sam Leick, Le'erin Voss, and Erika Lamp. They ran a time of 1:04.89.
The UWP team scored 35 points and finished 7th out of the 9 GLVC Track Schools. Host Indianapolis won the meet with 229 points and Lewis was runner-up with 167.
Coach Mike De Witt commented on the Runnin' Rangers efforts at the GLVC Meet: "There were an exceptional amount of great efforts and times over the two day meet. Jessica Monson set a great tone for the meet and the predominant underclass team we have did a great job of working their race plans and competing hard. Consider that all but 10 points (Monson's win in the 1500) were scored by freshmen and sophomore athletes. There was a total of 6 'open race' career bests and just some excellent racing."
