Bellarmine and UW-Parkside played a thrilling double-overtime game at Bellarmine last week. In the rematch at the DeSimone Gymnasium Saturday afternoon, the climax wasn't as high, but the result was the same...another win for the Rangers.
UW-Parkside never trailed in a 77-52 conquest of the Knights.
The win moved Parkside's record to 17-7 overall and 13-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Bellarmine slipped to 15-9 overall and 7-8 in league play.
The Rangers jumped to a quick 10-0 start. Bellarmine missed its first 10 shots from the floor during the stretch. The visitors got on the board with 13:10 showing on the first half clock.
Bellarmine got within single digits once at 32-23 with 2:45 to go in the first half, but the Rangers pulled away to a 40-25 lead at intermission. The lead jumped over the 20-point mark 9 minutes into the second stanza.
Amanda Gibson had a double-double with 22 points and 12 assists. Brittany Hogen logged 19 points. Jadee Rooney chipped in 14.
UW-Parkside shot 72 percent in the first half and 64 percent for the game. Bellarmine managed only 31 percent shooting for the game and was 2-25 from behind the arc.
