The UW-Parkside women's basketball team was never threatened in a 76-46 win over Rockhurst Thursday night. The Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams was played in the DeSimone Gymnasium.
The win pushed Parkside's overall record to 5-1. Rockhurst is now 3-4.
The Rangers shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half and made good on 52 percent of their shots for the game. Rockhurst never led in the game and saw their hosts go up by 19 points at halftime, 45-26.
Parkside was dominant underneath, out-rebounding the Hawks, 37-23.
The one-sided game allowed head coach Jenny Kenesie to get new faces into the game. During the second portion of the second half, five freshmen were on the floor for the Rangers, giving the home fans a peek at the future.
Twelve different players broke into the scoring column for the Rangers, led by
Brittany Beyer with 24 points. She was 10-12 at the free throw line and 7-12 from the floor. She pulled down eight rebounds as did
Brittany Hogen, who added 15 points.
The Rangers will host Missouri-St. Louis Saturday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m.
