Screaming Eagles foil UWP in five

It took a full five sets to complete, but in the end, Southern Indiana left the DeSimone Gymnasium with a 15-25, 25-14, 25-20, 14-25, 15-10, win over UW-Parkside in a Great Lakes Valley Conference women's volleyball match.

The Screaming Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fifth and deciding set and never looked back to secure the win. The visitors hit for a .364 mark in the fifth set, while the Rangers were limited to a .130 mark.

UW-Parkside is 20-9 overall and fell to 4-6 in the GLVC. Southern Indiana is 12-13 overall, and is even in league play at 5-5. Addie Kramer led the Rangers in kills in the match with 15. Tamie Gleason and Caroline Langer put down 10 apiece.

Southern Indiana logged eight serving aces in the contest.

The Rangers hit for a slightly better hitting percentage than their foes, hitting at a .181 clip compared to .175 for USI.

The loss snaps a five-match winning streak for the Rangers. The team looks to get back on the winning track when it hosts Lewis Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m.
