The UW-Parkside women's soccer team scored two goals early and then locked down Lewis for a 2-0 win on the Flyers' home field on a blustery Sunday afternoon in Romeoville, Illinois.
The win upped the Ranger record to 7-3-2 overall and 6-3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Lewis fell to 3-9-2 overall and 2-8-1 in league action.
The Ranger got on the board quickly, just 3:07 into the contest. Kristen Benson scored her third goal of the season with an assist from Shannon Becker. Later in the period, Kahili Cheng notched her second goal of the year at 18:21. Again, Becker was credited with an assist.
Cassie Glodowski posted the shutout in goal for UW-Parkside. She stopped five Flyer shots on goal. The Rangers put six shots on goal.
Shot attempts stood at 15-13 in favor of the Rangers.
The Lewis clash was the first of three consecutive league games on the road for Parkside. Next up is a match at GLVC newcomer Illinois-Springfield Friday, Oct. 16, at 5 p.m.
