A two-point lead 3 minutes into the game would be as good as it gets for the UW-Parkside men's basketball team in Kansas City Sunday afternoon. A hot-shooting Rockhurst team hit the century mark in beating the Rangers, 100-71.
The loss dropped the Rangers to 0-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and 3-9 overall. The Hawks vaulted to 8-4 overall and a perfect 4-0 in GLVC play.
LaVontay Fenderson continues to excel for the Rangers. He scored 38 points to go with five rebounds, a pair of assists and a pair of steals.
Fenderson leads the league in scoring. Rockhurst's Aaron Hill is second in the league and put up 27 against the Rangers.
Rockhurst was hot all game, shooting 62 percent in the first half and 61 percent in the second half. The Hawks held a 20-point advantage at 56-36 at halftime.
The Rangers look to return to winning ways, at home, this week. The team hosts Drury in the DeSimone Gymnasium Thursday at 7:30 p.m., followed by a contest with Missouri S&T Saturday at 3 p.m.
