Rangers lose in OT

A pair of free throws with 1 second left in overtime gave Robert Morris a 71-69 victory over the UW-Parkside women's basketball team in a non-conference game at Loyola University in Chicago. Amanda Gibson drained a three-ball just 3 seconds earlier to tie the game.

UW-Parkside was plagued by turnovers, caughing up the ball 33 times. The Eagles, an NAIA team from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, scored 29 points off of Ranger turnovers.

The Rangers led, 43-35, with just over 14 minutes left in regulation play. After the Eagles soared back and took the lead, Amy Selk tied the game with a jumper with 14 seconds left, helping to force the extra 5 minutes. 

Brittany Beyer led a quintet of Rangers in double digit scoring with 15 points. Selk chipped in 14.

Katie Weiglein pulled down 11 rebounds before fouling out.

UW-Parkside (0-3) will play another non-conference game, at Northwood, Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 5 p.m. CST. That game can be heard live by going to 'Game Day' at the top of this webpage and selecting 'Live Audio', then following the easy directions.

The team will have its first home game, which also is the first Great Lakes Valley Conference game, Thursday, Dec. 4, versus Kentucky Wesleyan at 5:30 p.m. CST.
