10-0 Indy topples Rangers

The visiting Indianapolis Greyhounds moved to 10-0 with a 78-55 win over the UW-Parkside women's basketball team. The Great Lakes Valley Conference game was contested at UW-Parkside's DeSimone Gymnasium Thursday evening.

The loss, the first at home for the Rangers this year, dropped the Rangers to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Indianapolis took the lead for good early in the first half, breaking away from an 8-8 tie with 14:35 to go. The Greyhounds saw their lead swell to double digits at 24-14 with 7:11 to go in the first half. The score stood at 36-28 at halftime.

The Rangers turned the ball over 15 times in the first half, compared to just five for Indianapolis. The visitors quickly extended their lead to 15 points in the first 3 minutes of the second half. The lead remained in double digits for the remainder of the contest.

Indianapolis had four players in double figures, led by Isabell Rhenwrick with 19 points. 

UW-Parkside senior Kayla Ming led all scorers with 20 points. She added seven rebounds and three assists.

Chelsey Schadler scored a dozen points for the Rangers and Mackenzie Heise added 10.

UW-Parkside out-rebounded the 'Hounds by a 42-35 margin.

The Rangers shot just 35 percent for the game, while Indy made good on 46 percent of its shots.

Next up for the Rangers is a home tilt with Saint Joseph's College. That GLVC contest will take place in the DeSimone Gymnasium Saturday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m.
