UW-P handles Tritons

Mike Bendall gets a steal versus UMSL

Visiting Missouri-St. Louis came into the game without a conference win. UW-Parkside made sure it stayed that way. The Rangers posted a 76-58 victory in a contest played at UW-Parkside's DeSimone Gymnasium.

The Tritons led 11-7 in the early going before the Rangers went on a 9-0 run. The home team never trailed again.

Mike Bendall made his first eight shots and tallied 16 points for the Rangers. It was his season high. Tyrone Deacon led the Rangers with 18 points.

Other Ranger double digit scorers were Brad Ferstenou and Dave Keane who each put 10 points in the scorebook.

Sky Fazier of Missouri-St. Louis scored 24 points to lead all scorers.

UW-Parkside shot 49 percent from the floor, while the Tritons made good on 47 percent of their shots.

The Rangers got the best of the boards, out-rebounding UMSL 32-29.

The win lofts the Ranger record to 11-5. The squad is back to even in the Great Lakes Valley Conference at 4-4. UMSL dropped to 0-7 in league play and is 3-12 overall.

The Rangers will have next Thursday off and will return to action on Alumni Day Saturday, Jan. 26. Lewis will be in town to battle the Rangers at 3:00 p.m.
