The UW-Parkside men's basketball team increased its home court winning streak to 16 games in a row after a 75-54 victory over Saginaw Valley State Friday night. The game was played at the DeSimone Gymnasium.
UW-Parkside led by a 34-22 count at halftime. The Cardinals closed to within eight points at 49-41 with 10:30 to go in the game, before the Rangers pulled away.
The Rangers shot 49 percent from the floor for the game. LaVontay Fenderson led the Ranger attack in the second half scoring 14 of his game-high 25 points.
Brad Ferstenou tallied 15 points for the winners. Kyle Clark and Tyrone Deacon each chipped in nine points.
Saginaw Valley State out-rebounded their hosts by a 37-33 count.
Fenderson was 10-16 from the floor. He added seven rebounds and a pair of steals.
The Cardinals were limited to 36 percent shooting from the floor.
The win lofted the Ranger record to 6-2 overall. The Cardinals dropped to 5-5 in the key regional contest.
Saginaw Valley was led in scoring by Lawrence Ross with 18 points. Dante Williams notched 17.
Next up for the Rangers is a trip to Findlay next weekend. The team will play Wayne State (Friday) on a neutral floor and then take on host Finday (Saturday).
