They had to work for it against Kentucky Wesleyan, a team which is winless in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, but the UW-Parkside women's soccer team pulled out a 1-0 verdict in Owensboro, Kentucky, on a steamy Sunday afternoon.
Kelly Teeters (Hubertus, Wis.) scored the lone goal of the game. She knocked one home off of a rebound at 34:40.
UW-Parkside was limited to four shots on goal in the contest. Ranger goalkeeper Erica Higuchi (Norcross, Geo.) needed to make only two saves to preserve the shutout and victory.
The win moved the Rangers to 8-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The team will return home, where it is unbeaten, Friday, Oct. 14, versus Rockhurst. Kickoff is set for 1:15 p.m. at Wood Road Field.
UW-Parkside is currently in eighth place in the 14-team grouping. At season's end, the top eight teams qualify for the GLVC tournament. See standings: http://www.glvcsports.org/sport.asp?path=wsoc
