University of Wisconsin-Parkside grappler Nick Fishback became the third Ranger to earn Great Lakes Valley Conference Wrestler of the Week accolades this season on Feb. 1, securing the honor after winning his weight class at the Pete Willson Invitational.

Fishback collects the weekly distinction after terrorizing the 165-pound weight class on Friday and Saturday at Wheaton College's Pete Willson Invitational, rolling to the tournament title with an unblemished 5-0 record. The senior collected two pins in just three minutes and 20 seconds of work while securing a tech fall win in the semifinals. The the championship match, Fishback outmuscled University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Logan Hermsen 6-3, helping the sixth-ranked Rangers place runner-up at the 32-team event.

Ranked fourth in the nation at 165-pounds, Fishback owns a 27-3 record this season. He becomes the third Ranger to collect GLVC Wrestler of the Week laurels, joining Montrail Johnson (Jan. 19) and Nick Becker (Dec. 21). This is the second GLVC weekly honor for Fishback in his career, having won the first ever iteration of the award on Nov. 10, 2014.
