Lorenzo Tanner was named Parkside's Director of Strength & Conditioning in June of 2026.
Tanner oversees the strength and conditioning programs for all 15 varsity sports, working closely with coaches and athletic training staff to develop student-athletes through evidence-based performance training, injury prevention and return-to-play programming.
Prior to his promotion, Tanner served as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Parkside men's and women's basketball programs beginning in August of 2025. In that role, he designed and implemented year-round training programs while overseeing athlete monitoring, performance testing and recovery strategies. He also collaborated with the Rangers' sports medicine staff to develop return-to-play protocols and helped reduce soft-tissue injuries through structured programming and load management.
Before arriving at Parkside, Tanner spent more than two years as the head strength and conditioning coach at Lake Forest Academy, where he directed performance training for more than 14 athletic programs. He designed individualized and team-based training plans, monitored athlete development and worked alongside athletic trainers to modify programming for injured student-athletes.
Tanner also served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Chadron State College, where he designed offseason programs for the men's and women's basketball teams while assisting with football, volleyball, cheer and track and field. In addition, he gained Division I experience as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Colorado, supporting athlete monitoring, data collection and performance programming for Power Four student-athletes and NFL prospects.
A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Tanner also holds certifications in USA Weightlifting and CPR/AED.
Tanner earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Fort Lewis College, where he was a football scholarship student-athlete, team captain and preseason All-American. He later began work toward his master's degree in exercise science at Chadron State College.
