Grace Hanel was named Graduate Assistant for Strategic Communications at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in July 2025. In her role, Hanel will assist with the promotion, coverage, and digital presence of Parkside Athletics through social media, content creation, and statistical management.
Hanel arrives at Parkside after graduating Cum Laude from the University of Sioux Falls in December 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a minor in Finance. She was named to the Dean’s List in all eight semesters and was honored with the Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award.
While at Sioux Falls, Hanel gained valuable experience across multiple areas of athletic communications. She served as an Athletic Communications Assistant for the USF Athletic Department, where she managed in-game social media coverage, score updates, and post-event reporting. She also contributed to website maintenance, bio writing, and statistical archiving.
In addition, Hanel worked as the Gameday Operations Intern Lead for the Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey Club, assisting with promotions, fan engagement, and mascot/player appearances. Her work extended into administration as well, serving as an Assistant to the Athletic Office Administrator and as a Registrar’s Office Assistant.
A former NCAA Division II volleyball student-athlete, Hanel competed in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) while also participating in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
