A 2013 UW-Parkside graduate, Simac competed for the Rangers for four years, graduating with a degree in fitness management. While at Parkside, Simac was an Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection and served as a team captain in both cross country and track. The Ranger alum and Mishicot, Wisconsin native served as a graduate assistant for the cross country and track & field programs at Northwest Missouri State University last year while pursuing a master's degree in applied health and sports science with a concentration in exercise physiology.
"I have no doubt that Phil will be a great addition to our staff," said VanDenend. "He has a great passion for the sport and a strong science and physiology background that will certainly be put to good use. I know that he can become a phenomenal recruiter for us as well."
"Parkside has given me so much and I'm so excited to have the opportunity to give back to a school and a program that I love," Simac said. "I hope to bring another dimension of expertise to the program. I'm coming on board at the right time. We have so much talent on both teams, so I'm extremely excited to see how much we can achieve this coming year in both cross country and track."
