Reagan Barkema

Reagan Barkema joined the Parkside women's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach in July of 2026.

Barkema arrives in Kenosha following a four-year Division I playing career at Northern Illinois and Bradley.

She spent her final two seasons at Northern Illinois, appearing in 11 games for the Huskies. During the 2025-26 season, Barkema scored six points and grabbed three rebounds in the season opener at Southern Miss before adding five points against Western Illinois. As a junior in 2024-25, she played in eight games, highlighted by a 12-point performance off the bench in a season-opening win over Louisiana and a nine-point, three-assist effort at Iowa.

Prior to Northern Illinois, Barkema played two seasons at Bradley University. As a sophomore, she started 25 of 30 games while averaging 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest. She scored a career-high 15 points against Illinois State and knocked down 75 three-pointers during her two seasons with the Braves.

A native of Story City, Iowa, Barkema was a four-time Iowa All-State selection at Roland-Story High School, leading the program to three Iowa State Tournament appearances. As a senior, she earned First Team All-State honors after averaging 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

In addition to her playing experience, Barkema has developed as a coach through the All-Iowa Attack AAU program in Ames, Iowa. As a head coach, she directed girls youth basketball teams, overseeing game management, offensive and defensive strategy, player development and individual skill instruction. She also assisted with the operation of NCAA-certified recruiting events, including event setup, statistics and game administration.

Barkema has also worked with the Des Moines Christian girls basketball program, coaching youth camps for athletes in grades 3-8.

She earned her bachelor's degree in organizational and corporate communications from Northern Illinois.
