Brad Fischer is back for his fifth year as the Rangers top assistant and recruiting coordinator. It is his eleventh season in coaching with previous stops at both the collegiate and high school levels. The Rangers are 73-41 (.640) in Fischer’s four years at Parkside, the best span the program has ever enjoyed.
Fischer has played a vital role in putting together one of the top rosters in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. His four recruiting classes at UW-Parkside have yielded 12 all-state selections and 12 players ranked among the Top 35 seniors in the state of Wisconsin. His first recruit, Brittany Hogen, was named second team All-GLVC last season. The 2008 group included GLVC Freshman of the Year and Freshman All-American Jadee Rooney along with fellow newcomer Brittany Beyer who became the first freshman in five years to finish in the Top 15 in the GLVC in scoring and rebounding and was selected to the All-GLVC Second Team last season. In 2008-2009 freshman accounted for nearly half of the team’s scoring and minutes played.
Prior to joining the Rangers, Fischer was an assistant coach with the women's basketball program at NCAA Division III UW-LaCrosse. He worked at UW-LaCrosse from 2003-06 and was the program's first full-time assistant.
Fischer served as the recruiting coordinator and brought in five all-state selections to the Eagle program. One of his players matriculated to first team all-WIAC honors as a freshman, becoming the first freshman player to garner first team honors in 10 years. She graduated as the school’s second all-time leading scorer, a two-time All-American, and the first UW-La Crosse women’s basketball player to earn four all-conference awards and be named WIAC Player of the Year. His initial recruiting class became the winningest class to leave UW-La Crosse in almost 30 years.
The Eagles climbed as high as No. 16 in the Division III national rankings and finished 19-8 in 2005-06; the program's best finish in the last 22 years despite losing its top player and lone senior to a season-ending injury. Fischer coached three post players who were selected to a total of five all-conference teams, one of which went on to play professionally overseas.
Prior to his stop at UW-LaCrosse, Fischer was the boys’ varsity assistant coach at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School in Western Wisconsin. He helped lead the Redmen to the school’s only boys’ basketball conference championship in 16 year span. He began his coaching career with a one-year stint at Western Wisconsin Technical College with the men's program.
Fischer played at Viterbo University and UW-Marshfield. He was a member of the 1998-99 Viterbo squad which reached the Elite Eight in the NAIA National Tournament. At UW-Marshfield, Fischer was named first team all-state and led the squad to a 21-6 record in winning the conference regular season and tournament championships.
