ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Parkside women's track and field team delivered a strong opening day performance Thursday at the GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, sitting in a tie for second place with Wayne State with 38 points heading into the final day of competition.

The Rangers were powered by standout performances in the distance events, highlighted by
Johanna Ebert's conference title in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Ebert captured the event with a time of 10:25.57 to score 10 points for Parkside, continuing her dominant outdoor season.
Abbi Steiner added another victory on the track, winning the 10,000 meters in 35:25.79, a mark that ranks among the top times in NCAA Division II this season.
Riley Doyle (39:21.16, personal best) and
Abby Robson (39:54.61) also competed in the event.

On the track, several Rangers advanced through preliminary rounds.
Mayda Conrad qualified for the 100-meter finals with a time of 12.28, while
Anna Snorek advanced in both the 200 meters (24.94) and 400 meters (56.53), earning automatic qualifying spots in each event. In the 800 meters,
Madison Perez (2:19.23) and
Alyson Moore (2:19.34) both secured qualifying positions for the finals, while
Johanna Ebert added another qualifier in the 1500 meters (4:48.53).

In the field events,
Rachel Blaskowski led the way with a runner-up finish in the long jump, posting a mark of 5.71 meters to score eight points and rank among the top marks in Division II this season.
Essence Burrows added four points with a fifth-place finish (5.57m), while
Jazai Lopez (11th) and
Analisia Melendez (12th) added depth.

Shelby Hanshaw contributed valuable points in the javelin with a fourth-place finish and a personal-best throw of 35.47 meters.
Avah Banks (12th) and
Addison Stallings (17th) also competed.

In the hammer throw,
Hannah Vlies led Parkside with a 10th-place finish (44.44m), followed by
Shelby Hanshaw (18th) and
Destiny Duesterbeck (19th, personal best).

Lainey Fredrick paced the Rangers in the heptathlon with consistent performances across multiple events. She recorded a runner-up finish in the high jump (1.57m, personal best) while also adding strong marks in the 100-meter hurdles, 200 meters, long jump, shot put, javelin, and 800 meters. She finished the overall event in eighth place with 3,812 points.
