LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Parkside softball standout Mia Johnson has been named to the 2026 NFCA Division II Player of the Year Watchlist, recognizing the top student-athletes across the country.

Johnson is one of 118 players selected nationwide and one of up to 15 representatives from the Midwest Region, as voted on by the NFCA Division II All-American Committee.

Through 30 games this season, Johnson has put together one of the most dominant offensive campaigns in both the GLIAC and the nation. She is hitting .465 with 40 hits in 86 at-bats, including 16 doubles, one triple, and nine home runs. She has driven in 26 runs, scored 32 times, and drawn 33 walks, posting a .988 slugging percentage and a .613 on-base percentage.

Johnson leads the GLIAC in batting average, doubles, runs scored, slugging percentage, total bases, and on-base percentage, while also ranking among the national leaders in nearly every major offensive category. She currently ranks fourth in NCAA Division II in on-base percentage, fourth in doubles, 20th in slugging percentage and total bases, 27th in batting average, 36th in home runs, and 67th in runs scored. Her 33 walks rank second nationally and are 11 more than the next closest player in the conference.

A reigning back-to-back GLIAC Player of the Year and three-time All-GLIAC First Team selection, Johnson continues to establish herself as not only the top hitter in the conference, but one of the premier offensive players in the country.

The NFCA Player of the Year will be announced on May 27, one day prior to the start of the NCAA Division II National Championships. All student-athletes remain eligible for the award, regardless of watchlist inclusion.
