KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside women's basketball heads back on the road this week for a two-game GLIAC swing, starting Thursday, Feb. 12, with a 4:30 p.m. CT matchup at Davenport inside the Davenport Student Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Rangers will then travel to Allendale for a noon CT tip on Saturday, Feb. 14, against the No. 1 team in the country in Grand Valley State inside the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.
Parkside enters the week 11-11 overall and 6-8 in GLIAC play, good for sole possession of sixth place in the league standings. The Rangers are 5-4 away from home this season, but come in looking to respond after a 0-2 week: a 59-53 loss at Roosevelt on Thursday in which Parkside allowed 25 fourth-quarter points, followed by a home loss to No. 18 Ferris State on Saturday in which the Rangers gave up 42 second-half points after leading at halftime and dropped to 0-5 against ranked opponents this season.
Through 22 games, Parkside has paired a top-half conference offense with one of the league's best defensive profiles. The Rangers are averaging 69.3 points per game while allowing 64.9, and their defense has been built on shot suppression and rim protection: opponents are shooting 38.7% from the field against Parkside, and the Rangers lead the GLIAC in blocks at 5.0 per game (111 total). Parkside has also been solid on the glass at 36.8 rebounds per game, and the Rangers enter the week generating 14.2 assists per game.
Individually, the Rangers' production has been led by a balanced trio. Katie Hamill leads Parkside at 14.2 points per game and adds 2.0 assists per game while ranking among the GLIAC's top steals producers at 1.7 per game. Cassidy Arni is right behind at 13.9 points per game, and Lillie Petersen has been Parkside's primary interior anchor at 7.6 rebounds per game (second in the GLIAC). At the point, Peighton Nelson continues to set the table at a league-best 4.8 assists per game (106 total), ranking among the national leaders, while Parkside's blocking numbers have been spread across the frontcourt with the Rangers' team total sitting atop the conference.

SCOUTING DAVENPORT:
Parkside opens the trip with a rematch against a Davenport team the Rangers handled at home on Jan. 24, 76-58. In that win, Parkside placed four players in double figures, posted 22 assists, and shot 50% from the field, while Ellie Toney scored a game-high 19 points for the Panthers.
Davenport enters the week 7-15 overall and 5-9 in GLIAC play, sitting seventh in the league standings. The Panthers went 1-1 last weekend on the road, dropping a 67-46 decision at Wayne State before rebounding with a 55-46 win at Purdue Northwest.
Through 22 games, Davenport has leaned on defense to stay competitive in the GLIAC. The Panthers are scoring 59.2 points per game and allowing 65.0, while shooting 37.4% from the field and 27.9% from three. Davenport's defensive profile is reflected in opponents' shooting: foes are at 41.1% overall and 28.4% from deep, and the Panthers have also been active defensively with 9.2 steals per game. Rebounding has been a challenge — Davenport is being out-rebounded by 5.2 per game (34.3 to 39.5) — and the Panthers are averaging 10.6 assists per game, compared to 13.4 for opponents.
Toney has been Davenport's most frequent high-point producer this season and has repeatedly shown up in the Panthers' leading-scorer column, including the 19-point outing in Kenosha. Maddie Geers has also authored multiple team-high scoring nights, while Davenport's perimeter group has provided most of the offense in a season where the Panthers have been the league's third-lowest scoring team.
This is the 14th meeting all-time between Parkside and Davenport. The Rangers have won 12 of the first 13 meetings, with Davenport's lone win coming last season in Grand Rapids, 57-51 (Jan. 25). Parkside is 5-1 all-time inside the Davenport Student Center, and nine of Parkside's 12 wins in the series have come by double figures.
SCOUTING NO. 1 GRAND VALLEY STATE:
Parkside closes the trip with its second meeting of the season against the top-ranked Lakers. The last matchup came Jan. 22 in Kenosha, when Grand Valley State pulled away for a 66-47 win.
Grand Valley State enters the weekend 21-1 overall and 13-1 in GLIAC play, still holding first place in the conference. The Lakers are coming off their first loss of the season, a 78-77 setback at Wayne State that snapped a 34-game winning streak dating back to last year. Grand Valley State hosts Roosevelt on Thursday before welcoming Parkside on Saturday.
Even with the first blemish on the record, Grand Valley has been statistically dominant across the full season sample. Through 22 games, the Lakers are averaging 80.5 points per game while allowing 53.1, and they are holding opponents to 36.2% shooting from the floor. Grand Valley has also created separation with pressure and volume: opponents have committed 537 turnovers against the Lakers (24.4 per game), while Grand Valley has produced 290 steals (13.2 per game). The Lakers' offense has been efficient and shared — 378 assists (17.2 per game) — and Grand Valley's defensive activity extends to the rim with 97 blocks (4.4 per game).
Paige Vanstee leads the Lakers at 15.5 points per game and is also one of the nation's most disruptive defenders, averaging 2.7 steals per game. MacKenzie Bisballe adds 14.0 points per game while leading the GLIAC in field goal percentage at 52% and blocks at 1.4 per game. Vanstee also leads Grand Valley on the glass at 6.5 rebounds per game, with Bisballe at 5.8, giving the Lakers two multi-category engines who anchor both ends.
This is the 29th all-time meeting between Parkside and Grand Valley State. The Lakers have won nine of the last 10 and are 11-1 against Parkside in Allendale. Parkside's only win at Grand Valley State came in the first-ever meeting between the programs on Nov. 19, 1992, when the Rangers won 77-55.
LOOKING AHEAD:
Following the road trip, Parkside returns home for its final regular-season home games, hosting Purdue Northwest on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 5:30 p.m. CT before welcoming Wayne State for Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. CT.
