KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — The Parkside Rangers capped a four-game weekend series by winning two of the final three contests, including an 8–5 victory on Saturday afternoon, to take the series from the Truman State Bulldogs in Kirksville, Missouri.
Game Two
Parkside Baseball completed a suspended game Saturday afternoon against the Truman State Bulldogs, finishing a contest that began Friday night but was halted due to lack of daylight. Truman State held on for a 9–6 win after play resumed in the top of the seventh inning.
Parkside struck first in the opening frame Friday.
Nolan Maciejewski reached on an error to lead off the game and later scored when
Josh Wicker doubled to left-center for an RBI, giving the Rangers an early 1–0 advantage. Truman State responded in the bottom of the inning as Tyler Tieman grounded out to third base, allowing Oliver Degenhardt to score and even the game.
The Rangers regained the lead in the third inning. Maciejewski singled, stole second, and scored on a
Benjamin Loyd RBI single to left field to put Parkside ahead 2–1. Truman State answered again in the fourth, tying the contest at 2–2 on an Evan Davis RBI double that plated Joey Fentress.
The Bulldogs took control in the fifth inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues to score four runs. Tyler Towe crossed the plate on a wild pitch, Nick Steurer followed with an RBI single, and Tieman delivered a two-run double to extend Truman State's lead to 6–2.
Parkside cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when
Jackson Lindquist walked and later scored on a
Hayden Dieschbourg RBI double to left-center, making it a 6–3 game. Truman State answered immediately in the bottom half, pushing across three runs on an RBI walk by Degenhardt, an unearned run on an error, and a sacrifice fly from Tieman to stretch the margin to 9–3.
The Parkside Rangers mounted a late rally in the top of the seventh as
Dylan Sayles reached on an error and
Benjamin Loyd followed with a single.
Joe Mrowiec then delivered a three-run triple, scoring Sayles and Loyd to bring Parkside within 9–6. Following the conclusion of Mrowiec's at-bat, play was suspended due to a lack of daylight. When the game resumed Saturday, the Truman State Bulldogs went to the bullpen and recorded the final three outs.
Maciejewski scored twice and added a stolen base, while Loyd went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mrowiec drove in three runs with his seventh-inning triple. On the mound,
Brennen Miller struck out five over 4.1 innings in the start, with
Carson Klaus and
Hayden Bowman finishing in relief.
Game Three
Parkside wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first inning.
Nolan Maciejewski was hit by a pitch and later scored on a double to left-center by
Karson Stiefer. The Rangers added another run on the same play when
Jackson Lindquist reached on an error by the Truman third baseman, allowing Stiefer to score for an early 2–0 lead.
After three scoreless innings, Parkside extended the margin in the fourth.
Joe Mrowiec singled and stole second before coming home on an RBI single to left-center by
Nathan Hanel to make it 3–0.
The decisive blow came in the fifth inning.
Dylan Sayles walked and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by
Trace Kirchberg and a balk. Stiefer followed with an RBI single up the middle, and Lindquist added a base hit to put two runners aboard. Mrowiec then launched a three-run home run down the left-field line, pushing the Rangers' lead to 7–0.
Parkside tacked on two more runs in the seventh. Lindquist singled and stole second, and Mrowiec worked a walk. Hanel delivered his second RBI single of the day, scoring Lindquist, while a throwing error allowed Mrowiec to advance. Moments later, Mrowiec scored on a wild pitch to cap the scoring at 9–0.
On the mound,
Nathan Ciemny was outstanding for Parkside. The right-hander threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out eight and facing the minimum through seven innings. Ciemny improved to 1–0 on the season, retiring 10 batters via flyout and inducing three groundouts in a 93-pitch performance.
Offensively, Mrowiec led the Rangers by going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs, three runs scored, and a walk. Stiefer finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Lindquist and Hanel each recorded two hits and drove in runs.
Game Four
Parkside struck first in the top of the opening inning. After
Karson Stiefer worked a walk and stole second,
Jackson Lindquist lined an RBI double to left-center to bring home the game's first run.
Truman responded immediately with a three-run bottom of the first. Nick Steurer delivered an RBI single, Joey Fentress followed with a run-scoring hit, and another run crossed on a Parkside error to give the Bulldogs a 3–1 advantage.
The Bulldogs added a run in the third when Oliver Degenhardt tripled and later scored on an error, extending the lead to 4–1.
Parkside answered with a three-run fourth inning to pull even.
John St. Clair doubled and later scored on a balk, before
Noah Goddard ripped a double to put runners in scoring position.
Carter Storti then tied the game with a two-run single up the middle, scoring Goddard and
Hayden Dieschbourg to make it 4–4.
After a scoreless fifth, Parkside took control in the sixth. Brennan Miller scored on a wild pitch to give the Rangers the lead, and moments later
Nolan Maciejewski delivered a two-run double down the left-field line. Parkside added another run on a Truman error later in the frame to stretch the lead to 8–4.
Truman pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Steurer, but
Leo Berger entered from the bullpen and struck out Tyler Tieman to end the game and secure the victory.
On the mound,
Peter Mulhern earned the win for Parkside, allowing just one unearned run on one hit over 2.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts.
Isaiah Terrell provided a strong bridge out of the bullpen with 1.2 scoreless innings. Mason Merline started the game and worked 2.1 innings, while Berger recorded the final out to close it out.
Offensively, Maciejewski finished with a double and two RBIs, Storti drove in two runs, and St. Clair and Goddard each collected extra-base hits as Parkside rallied past Truman State for the road win and to capture the series.

The Rangers return to action next Friday, February 27, traveling to Jefferson City for a four-game series against Lincoln University of Missouri.
