KENOSHA, Wis. — The Parkside men's soccer team stays on the road for two GLIAC matches this week, visiting Roosevelt on Friday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. CDT at Morris Field in Arlington Heights, before traveling to Hammond to face Purdue Northwest on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. CDT at Pepsi Field.
Parkside (1-2-1, 1-0-0 GLIAC) opened league play with a 3-1 win at Northern Michigan after three unanswered goals and is the GLIAC's lone 1-0-0 team. Senior forward Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen leads the Rangers with three goals, while redshirt senior goalkeeper Daniyal Rana paces the conference in saves per game (7.25). Freshman Yeison Santos and junior Nico De Andres also found the net in the conference-opening win at Northern Michigan, with Hudson Scheiber and Jamie Le Comte providing key assists on the attack.

SCOUTING ROOSEVELT:
Roosevelt (2-1-3, 0-0-1 GLIAC) enters Friday after a 2-2 draw at Purdue Northwest and was selected No. 2 in the GLIAC preseason coaches' poll. The Lakers feature a balanced attack led by Fynn Mewes (three goals, seven points) and Noah Vasilev (two goals, two assists). In goal, Eric Carvajal leads the GLIAC in total saves and ranks among the league leaders in saves per match. Team-wise, Roosevelt has outscored opponents 8-7 and averages just over 10 shots per contest. Returning 2024 All-GLIAC honorees include first-teamer Oskar Schuster (F), second-teamers Vasilev (M) and Luca Swinton (M), and honorable mention Valdemar Nambo (M).
The all-time series is even at 1-1. The teams split in 2024, with Parkside earning a 2-0 home win on Oct. 20 after Roosevelt took the first meeting 4-1 on Oct. 11 in Arlington Heights.
SCOUTING PURDUE NORTHWEST:
Purdue Northwest (1-4-1, 0-0-1 GLIAC) comes off the 2-2 draw with Roosevelt and owns a 3-1 home win over Walsh. The Pride average double-digit shots per match and have nine goals across six contests. Early standouts include Hugo Lorenzo (two goals, one assist; team-high shot volume) and Landon Potts (two goals, one assist), with Demian Martinez adding two assists. In goal, Mateus Baptista de Souza and Vittorio Pandini have split starts. PNW was picked fifth in the GLIAC preseason poll and returns 2024 All-GLIAC selections Christian Booth (F), Miguel Rodriguez de la Garza (M), Martin Murillo (D) and honorable mention Jacob Battista.
Since the series began in 2017, Parkside leads 8-3-4 overall. The Rangers are 2-2-2 on the road in Hammond. Parkside is 6-1-3 across the last 10 meetings. The most recent matchup was a 1-0 Rangers win in Hammond on Oct. 16, 2024; earlier in 2024 the teams drew 2-2 in Kenosha. The first meeting was Sept. 3, 2017, a 1-0 PNW win in Kenosha.
