SCOUTING MARYVILLE:
Maryville (0-1-1) enters Thursday's contest ranked third in the GLVC preseason coaches' poll after reaching its fifth straight NCAA Tournament in 2024 and advancing to the GLVC Tournament final. The Saints opened the season with a scoreless draw against Cedarville before falling 1-0 to Rogers State last week.

Maryville brings back several key players from last season's 10-win campaign, including senior forward Sebastian Weitlaner, who scored four goals with three assists in 2024, and sophomore forward Omar Cilic, who netted the game-winning penalty in last year's GLVC Tournament final. In net, senior Steen Nielsen returns after ranking among the conference leaders with six shutouts, a 0.82 goals-against average, and 32 saves a season ago.

The Saints lead the all-time series with Parkside 7-6 and have won the last four meetings. The Rangers' last win over Maryville came in 2021, a 1-0 home victory, as Parkside looks to flip the recent trend against one of the GLVC's top programs.

SCOUTING UPPER IOWA:
Upper Iowa (0-2-0) heads into the week after opening its season with a pair of 3-1 losses to St. Cloud State and St. Ambrose. The Peacocks were picked 14th in the GLVC preseason poll and return several impact players from 2024, including Dexter Garrett, who logged 1,393 minutes last year, and Alejandro Sanchez, who contributed 1,325 minutes and ranked second on the team in points.

Sophomore Timur Nagy scored his first collegiate goal against St. Ambrose, assisted by Sanchez and Matas Dumalakas, while goalkeeper JJ Gonzalez-Hayes returns after leading the Peacocks with 58 saves last season, including 11 in a single match.

Parkside controls the all-time series 12-3 over Upper Iowa, including a 7-0 mark at home. The Rangers have won the last three meetings, most recently a 3-0 victory in 2022.
