DETROIT, Mich. – Despite a late-game surge, Parkside team couldn't complete the comeback in a 10-7 loss to Wayne State on Friday afternoon at Harwell Field. The Rangers battled back from a seven-run deficit, but the Warriors held on behind early offense and a steady bullpen effort.
Parkside showed its resilience after trailing 9-2 through four innings. Carter Storti launched his third home run of the season in the fifth, a two-run shot down the right field line, to bring the Rangers within five. The sophomore third baseman was a spark at the top of the order, finishing 1-for-2 with three walks, three runs scored, and two RBI.
Owen Brock added a double and scored a run, while Dylan Sayles notched two hits and crossed the plate once. Sam Mommer and Angel Rades each drove in a run, with Rades providing a clutch RBI single in the seventh. Josh Wicker collected two RBI on the day, including a sacrifice fly in the eighth that cut the deficit to three.
On the mound, Allen Leitner (4-5) took the loss after allowing six runs in three innings. The Rangers bullpen stabilized things with William Hyland and Nathan Ciemny combining for three innings of one-run relief. Hyland struck out four over 2.1 innings in a strong showing.
Wayne State (23-24, 11-10 GLIAC) did most of its damage early, highlighted by a grand slam from Aidan Arbogast in the third and a two-run triple by Jacoby Dale in the fourth. Nick Baker (2-1) earned the win with five innings of work, while Ethan Getting recorded his third save with a scoreless ninth.
