Hammond, Ind. – Noah Gerritson and Parkside handled Purdue Northwest 6-3, clinching the series. Gerritson provided six solid innings, and this marked the second consecutive series victory for Parkside against GLIAC opponents. The Rangers are now 23-8 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
How it happened:
Timely hitting and outstanding plate discipline made all the difference, as the Rangers drew 11 walks and capitalized when it mattered—led by a momentum-swinging double off the bat of Peter Fusek, who delivered a bases-clearing, three-RBI shot in the fourth inning to give Parkside a commanding 4-0 lead.
On the mound, Noah Gerritson turned in a gritty performance to earn his third win of the year. The south paw worked around some traffic over six innings, allowing just one earned run while scattering five hits and striking out five. He handed the ball off to Maguire Delagrave for a clean seventh, and Carter Storti closed the door with two scoreless innings to lock down his second save of the season.
Storti wasn't just clutch on the mound—he came through at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the second that put Parkside on the board first. Josh Wicker quietly sparked the offense with a pair of singles and a walk, scoring once and laying down a crucial sac bunt in the late innings.
Purdue Northwest made a push in the fifth and seventh innings, taking advantage of a passed ball and a pair of Parkside errors to chip away at the lead. But the Rangers' bullpen stood tall in the late frames, shutting down the Pride's final six batters in order.
Defensively, Parkside turned a key double play in the sixth to erase a leadoff single and limited the damage on the few miscues they did commit.
The Rangers showed off their depth and discipline, with eight different players reaching base and the team tallying seven hits to match Purdue Northwest. Despite the even box score, Parkside's poise at the plate and command on the mound proved to be the difference.
