Detroit, MI - The Parkside Rangers fell to Wayne State in the GLIAC quarterfinals on Wednesday night. In a tough road atmosphere, Parkside faced an early deficit and played an uphill battle from the start. Despite battling back, a big third quarter was the difference, as Wayne State defeated Parkside 65-52.

Wayne State began the game on fire, jumping out to a 16-2 lead in the first five minutes. Despite the deficit, Parkside quickly battled back into the game. Sheridan Flauger got the Parkside run started, sparking a 9-0 stretch. Both Lillie Petersen and Kendal Zeiter followed with baskets, and Flauger capped the run with a triple. Wayne State led 20-14 heading into the second quarter.
Chloe Van Zeeland got Parkside started in the second quarter, delivering a quick bucket. Moments later, she found the bottom of the net again on a filthy spin under the basket. Parkside struggled from behind the arc, making just one three in the first 15 minutes of action. However, their presence inside the paint helped them chip away. Zeiter came alive in the second quarter, scoring six straight Parkside points, pulling them within three with three minutes to play. Cassidy Arni and Sheridan Flauger completed solid first-half performances, as both finished with seven points, and Parkside trailed just 35-32.
In the third quarter, Flauger drilled a triple in the opening seconds of the half, tying the game for the first time since the opening tip. However, Wayne State charged back, going on a 9-0 run and regaining the lead. They stayed red-hot, building the lead all the way up to 14 points and taking control right back. They dominated the quarter, outscoring Parkside 20-9, and led by 14 heading into the fourth quarter.
