Parkside Powers Past Upper Iowa in Non-Conference Battle

Fayette, IA. – The Parkside Rangers jumped back into the victory column with a gritty 7-5 victory over Upper Iowa on Tuesday afternoon. Parkside showcased their resilience and offensive firepower, launching a pair of home runs, and executing in clutch situations.

How it happened:
Parkside wasted no time setting the tone, with Dylan Sayles launching a two-run homer in the third inning to break the scoreless tie. That marked Sayles' fourth home run of the season, which ties him for the team lead. The Rangers kept the pressure on, tacking on another run in the fourth when Peter Fusek delivered an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0. Fusek also made an impact on the hill, providing three scoreless frames as the opener for Parkside.

The Rangers' bats stayed hot in the fifth. After loading up the bases, John St. Clair ripped a clutch two-run double to push the lead to 5-2, adding some key insurance. Parkside continued to answer every Upper Iowa rally, with Sayles driving in another run in the sixth and Owen Brock sealing the deal with a solo shot in the ninth, his second long ball on the season.

Peter Fusek was dominant early, which helped set the tone in the early stages. Despite some turbulence in the fourth, Parkside's bullpen came through. Maguire Delagrave and Aben Beinlich combined to limit the damage, while Nathan Ciemny, Parker Swanson, and Carter Storti shut the door in the late innings. Beinlich earned the win and Storti secured the save, leading Parkside to their 16th victory of the season.
