Parkside’s Offense Explodes in Doubleheader Sweep Over Southwest Baptist

Bolivar, MO. - Parkside's bats caught fire on Friday, powering the Rangers to a dominant doubleheader sweep over Southwest Baptist. The offense was relentless, erupting for 16 runs in game one and keeping the momentum rolling with a 14-run performance in game two. With clutch hitting and consistent pressure, Parkside secured back-to-back wins in a statement performance on the road.

GAME ONE
After falling behind 5-0 in the first two innings, Parkside flipped the game on its head with a massive rally in the third. Angel Rades sparked the comeback with a leadoff double, followed by an infield single from Jackson Lindquist to put runners on the corners. Owen Brock got Parkside on the board with an RBI single to center, and Carter Storti followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home another run. Josh Wicker laced an RBI double down the right-field line, cutting the deficit to 5-3, before Jacob York drove in Wicker with a single to pull the Rangers within one.

With two outs, Peter Fusek kept the inning alive with a perfectly placed bunt single to load the bases. Rades then reached on an error, allowing York to come home and tie the game. Lindquist delivered the biggest hit of the inning, ripping a two-run triple to right-center to give Parkside its first lead of the afternoon at 7-5.

After Southwest Baptist trimmed the deficit to 7-6, Parkside responded with another offensive surge in the fifth. York led off with a walk, and Max Johnson followed with a double to put two runners in scoring position. Fusek capitalized with a two-run double to extend the lead, and after Rades drew a walk, Lindquist crushed his second triple of the game to bring home two more runs. Brock followed with a walk, setting up another sacrifice fly from Storti to push the advantage to 12-6.

The Rangers continued to pour it on in the later innings, adding two more runs in the sixth on RBI singles from Rades and Lindquist. Johnson delivered another RBI single in the eighth, and Storti capped off the scoring with his third sacrifice fly of the game in the ninth.

Maguire Delagrave settled in to earn his first win of the season, tossing 3.1 innings and striking out five. Allen Leitner provided a strong finish out of the bullpen, allowing just one unearned run over 4.2 innings.

GAME TWO
Parkside took an early 1-0 lead when Angel Rades walked, advanced to third on a single by Dylan Sayles, and then scored on a groundout by Jackson Lindquist. Peter Fusek followed with a double, but the inning ended with Max Johnson striking out to leave Fusek stranded at third.

Southwest Baptist responded immediately, putting up a five-spot. The inning started with Legito's double, and the Bearcats capitalized on a series of singles and walks to bring home five runs. By the end of the inning, they had a 5-1 lead, and it looked like Parkside might be in for a tough night.

However, Parkside exploded for four runs in the third, tied the game at 5-5, and then took the lead. Sayles walked to start the inning, and Lindquist doubled him in. Fusek doubled as well, scoring Lindquist, and Johnson walked to put two on base. Parkside capitalized further when Wicker reached on a fielder's choice that scored Johnson, and Mack doubled in two more runs to put Parkside ahead 7-5.

After Southwest Baptist tied the game at 7, the offense woke up for Parkside again in the fifth, putting up five runs. Fusek led off with a single, and Johnson walked. Wicker advanced to third on an error and scored, followed by a Petasek RBI groundout that gave Parkside a 9-7 lead. Mack's double brought in another run, and a sacrifice fly by Rades put the Rangers ahead 10-7. Sayles lined out to right, but the damage was done.

Southwest Baptist cut the lead to 10-8, as Runge walked and advanced on a fielder's choice by Prewitt. A single by Tellez and an RBI single from Legito scored Prewitt, but Parkside shut down any further offense.

Parkside put the game away with a four-run outburst. Sato singled and advanced to third on an error by the catcher. Rades singled to put runners on the corners, and Sayles singled in Sato to make it 11-8. Lindquist lined into a double play, but Fusek singled, followed by a triple by Johnson that brought home two more. Wicker's single scored Johnson, and Parkside had a commanding 14-8 lead, which would be enough for the victory. Parkside improved to 7-1 on the season and has now won three straight games.
