KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside (5-5-5, 5-3-4 GLIAC) closed its regular season with a 0-0 draw against Roosevelt (9-3-5, 7-2-3 GLIAC) on Sunday afternoon at Wood Road Field. The result locks the Rangers into the No. 4 seed for the upcoming GLIAC Tournament, while the Lakers secured the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye.
Before the match, the Rangers honored their five seniors — goalkeeper Daniyal Rana, defender Armin Dedic, defender Collin Mullen, forward Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen, and midfielder Jamie Le Comte — for their leadership and contributions to the program.
Once play began, the afternoon turned into a defensive standoff, with both sides generating chances but unable to break through. Parkside controlled much of the first half, outshooting Roosevelt 9-4 and earning four corners to the Lakers' one. Keven Sosa led the charge with six total shots, including two on target, while Aguilera-Guillen and Hudson Scheiber each added multiple looks as the Rangers built consistent attacking pressure.
Roosevelt goalkeeper Jakob Mathews made two key saves to keep the match scoreless, including a diving stop in the 37th minute on Sosa's low strike toward the far post. The Lakers' best look came midway through the first half when Krystian Niziolek slipped into the box, but Rana calmly smothered the attempt to maintain the clean sheet.
The Rangers kept the tempo high in the second half, sustaining possession and peppering the Lakers' defense with long runs and crosses. Parkside finished with a 16-9 advantage in shots and a 7-3 edge in corners, while holding Roosevelt to just one shot on goal across 90 minutes. The final 10 minutes featured a late Parkside surge — highlighted by a curling shot from Scheiber that missed inches wide — but the match ended scoreless.
Mathews finished with two saves to record the shutout for Roosevelt, while Rana and Kyle Peek, who made his collegiate debut, combined for Parkside's fourth clean sheet of the season. Rana made one save in 81 minutes before Peek entered to finish out the final nine. The Rangers' back line, anchored by Dedic and Nicolas De Andres, held firm against a talented Roosevelt attack that entered the day averaging over 1.5 goals per match.
With the draw, Parkside wraps up the regular season as the GLIAC's No. 4 seed and will host Davenport in the quarterfinals. The Rangers and Panthers have drawn in both regular-season meetings this year. Roosevelt, the No. 2 seed, earns a bye and will await the winner of Parkside and Davenport on Friday, Nov. 14, in University Center, Michigan.
