MADISON, Wis. — No. 5 Parkside Wrestling opened its 2025 season with a strong performance, taking down No. 13 McKendree, 29-13, at the Wisconsin Wrestling Showcase inside the UW Field House on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers won seven of ten bouts, picking up bonus points in several key matches to secure the dual victory.
At 125 pounds, No. 2 Shane Corrigan set the tone early with a dominant 16-0 technical fall over Jason Strope. After McKendree earned back-to-back wins at 133 and 141, Parkside responded in a big way. No. 4 Jalen Spuhler won by fall over Caleb Lavine at 149 to swing momentum back to the Rangers.
Easton Worachek followed with a 4-1 decision at 157, and No. 4 Brody Hemauer added a commanding 11-2 major decision at 165. No. 7 Dajun Johnson earned an 11-6 decision in a ranked matchup at 174 over No. 14 Zeke Waltz.
Brady Schuh extended the lead at 184 with a 23-6 technical fall over Coy Bender. After McKendree picked up a win at 197, heavyweight Cooper Caraway closed the dual with a 7-3 decision to seal the 29-13 victory.
Parkside will return to action on Friday, November 8, for the annual Battle for the Sake Bottle rivalry dual against UW-Whitewater.
