KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside women's soccer continues its late-season push with a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula this weekend, visiting Michigan Tech in Houghton on Friday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. before heading to Marquette to take on Northern Michigan on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m.
The Rangers enter 7-5-2 and 7-2-1 in GLIAC play, sitting second in the conference standings and looking to build on their strong form heading into the final stretch of the regular season. Parkside is coming off a 1-0 road win over Davenport last Sunday, a match decided by freshman defender Emily Giese's first collegiate goal—a perfectly timed strike off a corner kick in the 45th minute. Goalkeeper Tristen Cross added her third shutout of the year, needing just one save to preserve the clean sheet, and has now recorded three shutouts in her last four matches.
Offensively, Parkside has found balance and depth across its lineup. Senior captain Emily Mikkelson leads the GLIAC with six assists and ranks among the top ten in points (12). Lindsay Dahlinger has netted a team-high four goals—three of them game-winners—while Ava Rizzitano sits tenth in the league in total shots (27). Overall, five different Rangers have scored at least three goals this season, and the team has recorded 20 goals while allowing only 14, with six shutouts along the way.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN TECH:
Michigan Tech (2-12-1, 2-8-1 GLIAC) currently holds the eighth and final GLIAC Tournament spot on a tiebreaker over Roosevelt but enters the weekend on a four-match losing skid. The Huskies dropped both contests last weekend, falling to Ferris State (3-0) and No. 5 Grand Valley State (6-1). Tech has scored just 10 goals this season—the fewest in the league—and has conceded a GLIAC-high 38 (2.5 per match). Freshman Payton Wetzel leads the Huskies with three goals and eight points, while midfielder Rylee Fisher adds two assists. Goalkeeper Bri Barrows leads the GLIAC in saves (74) and owns a .733 save percentage. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw earlier this year in Kenosha, with Mikkelson scoring just 18 seconds in before Wetzel equalized at the half-hour mark. Parkside outshot the Huskies 15-5, including 9-3 in the second half.
All-time, the Rangers are 6-8-1 against Michigan Tech and 2-5 in Houghton, making their first visit since 2023.
SCOUTING NORTHERN MICHIGAN:
Northern Michigan (3-7-5, 3-6-2 GLIAC) enters the weekend in sixth place with 11 points but has not won since Oct. 3, going 0-4-2 in its last six matches. The reigning GLIAC regular-season champions are coming off a 3-0 loss at No. 5 Grand Valley State and a 2-2 draw at Ferris State. Earlier this fall, Parkside claimed a 2-1 victory over NMU in Kenosha thanks to goals from Kayden Schmidt and Lindsay Dahlinger, who provided the game-winner in the 56th minute. Cross finished that match with nine saves to secure Parkside's first win over Northern since 2019. The Wildcats are led by senior defender and reigning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year Hannah Kastamo, who has four goals and ten points, while forward Madison Bibila has added three goals and leads the league in shots (45). In goal, Jillian Thompson has started 13 matches, notching two shutouts and 30 saves.
Parkside is 6-8-3 all-time against Northern Michigan and 2-6-1 on the road, with its last win in Marquette coming on Sept. 27, 2019.
