KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside men's soccer returns to Wood Road Field to close the regular season with a pivotal two-match weekend, hosting Purdue Northwest on Friday, Oct. 31, at noon before celebrating Senior Day against league leader Roosevelt on Sunday, Nov. 2, also at noon.
The Rangers enter 5-4-4 and 5-2-3 in GLIAC play (18 points), having already clinched a home GLIAC Quarterfinal on Nov. 8. Parkside is coming off a strong week that included a gritty 0-0 draw with Northern Michigan in windy conditions followed by a 2-1 victory over St. Cloud State. Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen netted the game-winner—his team-leading seventh of the season—while Daniyal Rana added another standout performance in goal. Aguilera-Guillen ranks tied for second in the GLIAC in goals (7) and second in points (17), while Keven Sosa is tied for second in assists (4). Between the posts, Rana continues to lead the league in total saves (86, 6.6 per game) and owns three shutouts on the year.

SCOUTING PURDUE NORTHWEST:
The Pride (2-11-2, 1-7-2 GLIAC) sit at the bottom of the standings but remain within reach of the final postseason berth. PNW has dropped four straight, including home losses to Davenport and Saginaw Valley State last weekend, and has conceded a league-high 30 goals (2.00 per match). Offensively, freshman Landon Potts leads the team with four goals and nine points on 30 shots, while Rami Hassan Zantout ranks among the conference's top five in both shots and shots on goal. Earlier this season in Hammond, Parkside earned a dramatic 1-0 victory as Angel Luevano scored his first collegiate goal in the 89th minute. Despite being outshot 18-14 and out-cornered 13-4, the Rangers held firm behind eight saves from Rana.
All-time, Parkside leads the series 9-3-4 and is 6-1-2 at home, with no losses to PNW in Kenosha since the programs' first meeting in 2017.
SCOUTING ROOSEVELT:
The Lakers (9-2-4, 7-1-2 GLIAC) enter the weekend atop the table with 23 points, one ahead of second-place Saginaw Valley State. Roosevelt went 1-0-1 last week, drawing with the Cardinals before earning a 1-0 win over Davenport, and has remained unbeaten at home this season (6-0-2). Offensively, the Lakers are led by Fynn Mewes, who paces the GLIAC in goals (10), game-winners (5), and points (22). Krystian Niziolek is tied for second in the league with four assists, while goalkeeper Eric Carvajal has started 14 of 15 matches, posting three shutouts, a .786 save percentage, and 66 total saves. When these teams met earlier this season on Sept. 26, Parkside led 2-0 at halftime before Roosevelt rallied for a 4-3 comeback win. The Lakers outshot the Rangers 17-8, including 11-3 in the second half.
Last year in Kenosha, Parkside blanked Roosevelt 2-0, and Sunday's rematch will mark just the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs.
