Rangers Battle Wildcats to Scoreless Draw in Windy Affair

KENOSHA, Wis. --  Battling through gusting winds that reached 30 miles per hour, the Parkside men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Northern Michigan on Wednesday afternoon at Wood Road Field. The conditions made for a physical and unpredictable contest, as both sides struggled to generate consistent rhythm in the attacking third.

With the result, Parkside moves to 4-4-4 overall and 4-2-3 in GLIAC play, while Northern Michigan now sits at 4-4-5 overall and 3-4-2 in the conference.

Despite the swirling winds, both teams created chances throughout the 90 minutes. Parkside outshot Northern Michigan 8–4 in the opening half before the Wildcats responded with a 16–5 edge in the second. The Rangers relied on disciplined defending and strong goalkeeping from Daniyal Rana, who recorded five saves en route to his third shutout of the season.

Offensively, Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen led the Rangers with four shots, including two on target, while Angel Luevano added two shots on goal. Nicolas De Andres and Valentin Sandoval also applied pressure in the midfield, combining to help Parkside generate 13 total shots and four corners.

The match grew tense in the first half as Northern Michigan picked up four yellow cards before the break, and Parkside added two cautions late in the second half. The wind played a significant role throughout, altering long passes and corner kicks and forcing both teams to adapt to ground-based play and quick transitions.

The Rangers will look to build on the result when they return to Wood Road Field on Friday, October 24, hosting St. Cloud State at noon to continue GLIAC action. Links to coverage can be found at ParksideRangers.com/coverage.
