Parkside Falls to Milwaukee in Non-Conference Battle

Franklin, Wis - The Parkside Rangers saw their five-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night. They were defeated by the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers from the Division-one level. Despite the Rangers' fight, they lost 11-3.

How it happened:
Right off the bat, the Rangers got the scoring going and took an early lead. Peter Fusek began the game with a bang, slashing a lead-off triple down the right field line. Fusek was able to show off some of his speed, legging out his fifth triple of the season. Emanuel Andujar Ferreira followed up with an extra-base hit of his own. In a left-on-left matchup, Andujar put the sweet spot of his bat on a hanging breaking ball and nearly took it out of the yard. He smoked an RBI double that bounced off the warning track and then over the fence. It was Andujar's team-leading 12th double of the season, and the Rangers were out to a 1-0 lead.

Milwaukee responded in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of their own runs. However, Austin Grube was able to limit the damage. He got the start for the Rangers, the first of his collegiate career, and went the first three innings. He exited with the team trailing 3-1.

Milwaukee had their big inning in the fifth. They crossed six runs and blew the doors open. In the top of the fifth inning, Owen Brock drove home Parkside's second run of the game. He hit into a sacrifice-fly, scoring Ryan McGonegle. It was Brock's 24th RBI of the season.

Despite allowing a total of 11 runs, Parkside saw some solid individual performances on the mound. Of course it started with Austin Grube who managed to maintain the Division-one roster to just three runs in three innings. Additionally, Maguire Delagrave dealt a scoreless inning of relief, punching a hitter out in his lone inning of work. Nathan Ciemny pitched the eighth inning. Although he allowed a run, Ciemny struck out two hitters including one of the top hitters in the Horizon League, Carson Hanson.

Parkside crossed their final run in the top of the ninth inning. John Wubben led the inning off with a walk and made his way to third base as the inning progressed. He would then score on a wild pitch that got away from Milwaukee's catcher. Wubben dove in safely and secured Parkside's final run of the game.
