Rangers Drop Both Games of Doubleheader Against SVSU

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Parkside softball team returned to action at home on Sunday. The Rangers dropped both games to the Cardinals, falling 8-1 in game one and 6-0 in game two.

Game One
The Rangers offense struggled to get going against the top team in the GLIAC. The Cardinals would post two runs in the second inning on a home run.

The Rangers would have their best chance in the third inning to do serious damage. Taylor Utrata would hit an infield single to reach base, and the following two batters would reach base after being hit by pitch. The Saginaw Valley State defense would then lock in, striking out the following two batters and forcing a pop up to get the third out.

The scoring would resume in the fifth inning as the Cardinals would tack on four more runs to add to their lead. The score would move to 6-0 in favor of SVSU.

The Cardinals would put two more runs up in the top of the seventh inning. The Rangers looked to chip away in the home half of the inning. Mia Johnson would deliver the games only run on a two out single through the left side. The score would end in favor of SVSU 8-1 for game one.

Game Two
The Rangers would be shut out in game two. Despite the low offensive production, Rangers pitcher Olivia Masnica had a solid day on the rubber. Masnica struck out four batters and allowed just two runs on seven hits. She threw 6.2 innings of relief for the Rangers. Despite Masnica's performance the Rangers fell 6-0.
