LEBANON, Ill. – The Parkside softball played in their third doubleheader in as many days on Thursday afternoon against McKendree. The Rangers dropped both games to the Bearcats.
Game One
The Rangers would struggle in game one, amassing just three hits to the Bearcats 10. McKendree scored all nine of their runs in the opening two innings of the game.
KC Shickel would enter the game to pitch in the second inning and was impressive. Shickel would pitch in the final three innings and allow just one run on just three hits while sitting down four Bearcat batters.
Game Two
Parkside's offense would respond in game two. After going down 3-0 through the first three innings of play, the Rangers would turn things around in the top half of the fourth. The Rangers would string together four hits, including a
Rylee Baetz two run single to post three runs in the inning. Parkside would knot things up at three heading into the bottom half of the inning.
McKendree would answer quickly, rattling off a two run homerun to distance themselves, making the score 5-3. They would tack on two more just an inning later as their lead would swell to 7-3.
Parkside didn't go down without a fight. A lead off double by
Toni Rodriguez in the top of the seventh inning would set up a
CICI Di Silvio RBI double. It would be all the Rangers could muster as they would fall 7-4 at the hands of the Bearcats.
