Parkside Drops Series to Southwest Baptist

Bolivar, MO - After a win in the first game of three, the Parkside Rangers dropped both of the final two games to the Southwest Baptist Bearcats. Despite erasing a seven-run deficit in the first game, Parkside was still defeated, 15-14. The Bearcats remained hot and dropped the hammer in the third game with a 12-3 victory over the Rangers.

GAME ONE
It's fair to say that this game was a barn burner. The mania started in the first inning, as the Bearcats dropped six-runs. Parkside scraped a run back in the second on a Koto Sato sacrifice fly, but the scoring was far from over for the Bearcats. They plated two more in the bottom half of the second, and walked away from the first two innings with an 8-1 advantage.

The third inning was when things got wild. Parkside sparked a rally and loaded up the bases. Andrew Harris plated the first run of the inning, singling home a run. A few batters later, Emanuel Andujar Ferreira smoked a three-run double and brought Parkside within two runs, 8-6. It was once again Koto Sato who stepped up for the Rangers, he smoked a game-tying two-run shot to cap off a seven-run inning.

Fast forward to the fourth inning, Parkside would take their first lead of the game. Adujar came through again, driving home the go-ahead run on an RBI double. In the home half of the fourth, the Bearcats swiped two across and took a one-run lead, 10-9 after four.

In the fifth, Parkside once again answered the phone. John St. Clair gave Parkside the lead right back with a two-run triple into left field. Andrew Harris then got a hold of a baseball, smoking his third home run of the season. The five-run inning was topped by Andujar's fifth RBI of the game, as he registered in on his third double of the game. Parkside led 14-10 headed to the bottom of the fifth.

The Bearcats plated four runs to tie in the home half of the fifth. They took the lead in the sixth and jumped ahead 15-14. Parkside got the tying and go-ahead runs on the base path in the final inning, but stranded them. Game one ended 15-14, Southwest Baptist.

GAME TWO
In the third game of the three-game set, the Bearcats dominated. Parkside picked up a run in the second inning to break the ice, but the Bearcats caught on and didn't stop the scoring. After plating one in the third, the Bearcats scored two in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning, taking a 7-3 lead.

The Bearcats put the icing on the cake in the eighth inning, dropping four more runs in the frame. Parkside only collected five hits in the game as a team. They fell in the third game, 12-3. Parkside dropped to 4-7 in the 2024 campaign so far.
