No. 3 Parkside Rangers Dominate Minot State Beavers, 36-6

MINOT, ND --  The No. 3 ranked Parkside Ranger wrestling program hit the road on Thursday night, taking on the Minot State Beavers. Minot won the night's opening bout, but Parkside responded by winning eight of the next nine bouts, with five bonus point victories, securing the 36-6 road win.
 
The dual started at 197 lbs, and Minot State's Cannon Potts earned the Beavers' first win of the evening, outlasting Parkside's Chase Stegall in a thrilling 5-4 decision. Potts showed resilience and grit in a close match, clinching the win with a critical takedown in the final moments.
 
No. 7 ranked Lloyd Reynolds edged out Minot State's No. 11 ranked Jake Swirple in a nail-biting match. The only points scored during regulation were on escape points. Then in the second overtime period, Reynolds fought for 30 seconds of ride time, which was enough to earn the 2-1 tiebreak victory.
 
Parkside took the lead for good in the third bout of the night when No. 4 ranked Shane Corrigan put together a dominant performance, defeating Dylan McDonald by a 15-0 tech fall in 3:17. Corrigan scored early and often, earning a takedown and ten near fall points in the opening period. He then closed out the bout with a reversal.
 
Wayne Joint responded with a hard-fought 8-3 decision over Joey Roti, bringing Minot State within 9-6 after four bouts.
 
No. 3 ranked Cayden Henschel won by a 6-1 decision over Ethan Wonser. Henschel scored first with a takedown in the opening period. Henschel stayed in control throughout the next two periods, securing the victory.
 
Easton Worachek had the fastest bout of the night, winning by fall in just 44 seconds over Evan Vieira. His victory extended the Ranger lead to 17-6 after six bouts.
 
No. 3 ranked Ben Durocher earned bonus points, defeating Ryan Hrcka by a 16-1 tech fall. Durocher took Hrcka down twice in the opening period and led 6-1 after one. He kept the pressure up, with a takedown and four nearfall points in the second. Durocher closed out the bout 57 seconds into the third period with near fall points.
 
No. 15 ranked Dajun Johnson won a low-scoring bout by a 5-4 decision over Brendan Barnes. Johnson was able to secure the winning takedown late in the third period.
 
Crosby Schlosser made quick work of John Armstrong, winning the bout by a 17-0 tech fall in 3:42. Schlosser earned 10 near fall points in the first period along with a takedown. He then secured the takedown in the second period to close out the bout.
 
No. 3 ranked Reece Worachek closed out the night with a bang. He defeated Dom Howlett by fall just 1:28 into the bout.
