SCOUTING DAVENPORT
The Panthers will enter Friday's match undefeated sitting at 4-0-1. Most recently Davenport picked up a draw at Ferris State, tying the Bulldogs in a 1-1 scoreline. The Rangers have no common opponents with the Panthers thus far this season.
Davenport's unbeaten play has been thanks to their impressive offensive production. They have scored 12 goals over the span of five matches. That comes to 2.4 goals per match for the Panthers. With that, seven different Panthers have scored this season so far, with the leaders in Haley Diekevers and Madison Fant each scoring three goals apiece this season so far.
On the defensive side the Panthers have been just as impressive. All four of their wins this season have come in addition to a shutout. The only goal the Panther defense has conceded was in the recent Ferris State match that ended in a 1-1 tie. Goalkeeper Gabriana Bennecke has been in goal for all 450 minutes for the Panthers this season and has those four clean sheets to her name. Bennecke has posted a .941 save percentage so far this season as well.
Parkside sits at 1-3-3 against Davenport historically. The most recent outing ended in a 1-1 draw back in October of 2022.
SCOUTING #22 GRAND VALLEY STATE
The Lakers will return to Wood Road Field for the first time since being upset by the Rangers on the pitch just a year ago. This week GVSU broke into the top 25 rankings for the first time since the preseason polls which ranked them eighth in the nation. The Lakers now sit at #22 in the nation. They enter this week of play 3-1-2 this season. The only loss GVSU has conceded was against Ashland, who is now ranked #1 in the nation for the second week in a row.
Offensively, the Lakers have had six different players scoring goals this season. They are led by Kacy Lauer who has two goals and four points through the Lakers six games this season. Ryann Fetty has assisted on two of the Lakers goals and leads the team in that category. Grand Valley has only been shut out once, which was in the Ashland match they dropped in a 0-1 scoreline.
On the defensive side Grand Valley has two shutouts on the season. They have shut out Mary and Minnesota State this year. The Lakers have played two goalkeepers in net this year, each playing in three games for 270 minutes on the year. The two have combined for nine total saves and a .692 save percentage through six games.
Historically, the Rangers have gone 4-13 against the Lakers overall. The series has spanned over a 19-year period, as the first matchup between the two programs was back in 2004. In the 17 matches played between the two teams, there has yet to be a draw.
