The Parkside men's soccer program looks to continue their success from the 2022 season into 2023. The Rangers have two matches this week to open 2023 NCAA Division II play. The first match of the season will be at Quincy University in Illinois on Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rangers will remain on the road as they travel to Lewis University on Sunday to take on the Flyers. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m.

Parkside returns 17 players from the 2022 roster. Head coach Jason Zitzke enters his 13th season at the helm of the Parkside program. The Rangers Athletics Hall of Famer will look to expand upon the Sweet Sixteen appearance for the program in 2022. It was the first time the program made a Sweet Sixteen appearance since 2004.
UWP returns senior Edgar Heredia Victoria. The midfielder was the second leading point scorer with 11. Defensively, Parkside will rely on the return of Lars Popp and Mario Bolado. Bolado played the third most minutes last season, totaling 1,634 minutes. Parkside will rely on a blend of returners and fresh faces.
SCOUTING QUINCY
Quincy enters the match after a three-win season last season. The Hawks went just 3-11-3 overall last year, and 1-10-1 GLVC record. Quincy lost their top five point scorers from last year's squad. The Hawks bring 20 true freshmen to their 2023 roster.
SCOUTING LEWIS
Lewis enters the 2023 season being picked to finish 4th in the GLVC. The Flyers return the GLVC Co-Defensive Player of the Year in Sebastian Doppelhofer. The goalkeeper racked up 7 clean sheets last season along with a .819 save percentage. Lewis also returns Cristian Perez. Perez led the team in scoring with 8 goals and racking up 17 points.
