Parkside Unable To Rally Late In Losses to GVSU

KENOSHA, Wis. --- The Parkside baseball team played games two and three of the four-game series with the Grand Valley State Lakers on Friday afternoon. Parkside battled all day, but was unable to rally late in both games, falling 3-1 and 7-4.

GAME ONE
Noah Gerritson and Charlie Campbell combined to give up just two earned runs on the mound.

Grand Valley got on the board first in the top of the third. With two outs a single by Jonas Gulbrandson gave the Lakers a 1-0 lead. The Rangers answered back in the bottom half of the inning. An error allowed Reece Homan to reach base to open the inning. A sac bunt then moved Homan into scoring position and an error allowed him to score the tying run.

GVSU regained the lead in the top of the fifth. A leadoff single was able to come into score on a Parkside error. The Lakers then extended their lead to 3-1 on a solo home run to right field by Kyle Nott.

GAME TWO
Andrew Harris was nearly perfect offensively for the Rangers, going 4-5 with a double. Emanuel Andujar Ferreira went 2-4 with a two-run homer. Matt Felske was solid on the hill, throwing two and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief.

Grand Valley got on the board in the opening at-bat of the game when Spencer Nelson homered to left center. GVSU then made it a 2-0 lead with a single through the right side in the third. The Lakers added one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to extend their advantage to 5-0.

Parkside got two runs back in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs Harris doubled down the left-field line. Andujar Ferreira followed by launching a 2-2 pitch over the right-field wall for his third homer of the season.

The Rangers continued the fight back in the eighth. With one out and Ryan Brouch on first, Harris and Andujar Ferreira ripped back-to-back singles to load the bases. Jared Heinzen was able to work a full count walk to pull Parkside within two. The Rangers then pulled within 5-4 on an RBI groundout by Camden Kearney.

A two-run homer in the top of the ninth extended the GVSU lead to 7-4 and the Rangers were unable to rally in the bottom half.
