HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
The Lakers kept the offense rolling in the second game, scoring three runs in the opening frame.
Kiley Akey would settle in after the rough start, throwing four consecutive shutout innings after the first. The Lakers would tack on a pair of runs in the sixth, before Akey shut the offense down in the seventh.
Â
Lakers starting pitcher Ashley Platek was looking for the no-hitter in the bottom of the seventh with two out and no runners on base.
Brenna Konstanty came up to the plate in a pinch-hitting role, and sent a bouncing ball through the gap between second and third to break up the no-hitter with a single in her first at-bat of the season.
