MANKATO, Minn. -- The Parkside women's basketball team returned to the hardwood this afternoon for a match up against Minnesota State-Mankato. The Rangers were overpowered by the Mavericks on Saturday afternoon in a 98-68 scoreline.
Inside the Box Score
- The Rangers had three players score in double digits. Paty Gallasova, Sheridan Flauger, and Cassidy Arni scored 14 points each in the effort.
- UWP shot 54.3% from the field on the day as well 46.2% from deep.
- The Mavericks forced the Rangers into 32 turnovers on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers opened the first quarter off in a back and forth scoring battle with the Mavericks. The Rangers shot 8-14 from the field in the quarter and were led by
Cassidy Arni, who scored eight of her 14 points in the opening quarter of play. The buzzer would sound with the score being a close 24-22 in favor of Minnesota State.
The second quarter would be highlighted by another hot period of shooting for the Rangers. UWP shot an impressive 62.5% from the field going 5-8. The Mavericks however more than doubled the Rangers shot attempts in the quarter, shooting 20 shots up in the 10 minute portion of play. Minnesota State would string together a 11-1 run to head into the half with a 14 point lead at 36-50.
The Mavericks would continue to press the Rangers in the third quarter. Their full court press would contribute to seven third quarter Ranger turnovers. The Rangers on the day turned the ball over a season high 32 times.
Minnesota State remained in the drivers seat for the rest of the game. In the fourth quarter they were able to post 22 points, with 12 of those points coming from the bench. The Mavericks would stretch their largest lead to 32 points. The final score would end with a 30 point win for the Mavericks, 98-68.
